THE ART OF SHOOTING - The Birdcage
I’ve seen a lot of adjectives thrown around when describing The Art of Shooting; shoegaze, art punk, epic rock. Whatever it is, it’s certainly melodramatic, resulting in darkly dynamic, indie rock. The band’s new record, Traveling Show, is easily reminiscent of other moody, female rockers like PJ Harvey and Siouxsie Sioux. On “The Birdcage,” an open, airy chorus is juxtaposed with driving bass lines and crunchy guitars, demonstrating the manic tendencies that pervade much of the album.
The Art of Shooting has a number of shows lined up at SXSW, as well as a record release party for Traveling Show at Piano’s in the band’s hometown of New York City.
