WAX FANG - The Doctor Will See You Now
There is something just so grandiose and epic about Wax Fang that sets them apart from their peers. It might be their cerebral lyrics, dynamic instrumentation, or the fact that they do an incredible job of making you forget they’re just a trio. Whatever it is, it’s earning the band accolades and achievements that most artists only dream of.
Like what? How about being hand picked by Pavement, one of the most influential bands of all time, to play at the festival they’re curating. Or how about being invited to open tours for My Morning Jacket and Spoon? Yeah, pretty significant. The band was also recently picked up by San Francisco label, Absolutely Kosher, to rerelease their most recent album, La La Land.
Though the band evokes heroes like Bowie or The Pixies, they also fit comfortably with updated acts like Local Natives of The Wrens. And if the awesomeness of their music and high profile supporters aren’t enough to sway you, the band just covered Purple Rain (the album) in its entirety this past weekend in their hometown of Louisville, KY. Yeah, they’re THAT good. Footage from the show hasn’t made its way online yet, but I did find this video from last week of the band covering Purple Rain (the song).
Oh and the drummer used to be in one of my favorite bands, Elliott!
